Guitarist Melvin Fang Exposed Guitar Industry Playing Secrets
On the 18th October 07, Guitarist Melvin Fang decided to break the long silence held by the guitar fraternity and do the ‘exposed magicians’ stint by revealing trade secrets, with the exceptions that it is for the guitar playing industry. Will he incur the wrath of the industry & the game players?
Melvin Fang, the coach of several bands like Recall & Roxio Runners created some controversy when he revealed in the Guitar Player Express Magazine that he had enough of the silence and selfishness dominating the music industry. “For too long players are held in the dark…” What did he mean when he said those words? “Well, basically I believe that guitar playing should be for all aspiring guitarists. Yet all those newcomers always get bombed before they even take flight…” By that, Melvin revealed that many guitar players are generally selfish in their ways. He revealed that there is an entire industry created trying to create the impression- that guitar playing is an inborn talent and not a skill that can be acquired.
If such is the case, why did they create the false fronts of greatness? “Well, obviously we all know that all those guitar ‘experts’ are merely illusionists. They have big egos and have spent their entire lives to discover the playing secrets. Why should they reveal them to you right?” he said wryly. “It’s like learning to drive. Everybody can do it. But in the guitar world, you often hear the phrase from the experts saying ‘Practice hard!’, ‘It’s in the fingers!’ Well that’s really bulls*t you know what I mean? They say all these things simply because they want to protect their throne of superiority…”
Melvin believes that music is all about sharing and not about letting the ego preceed the mind. He has written a book comprising of numerous juicy guitar playing secrets for sale.
